For All The Saints


For you, brave martyr-saints whose blood
refreshed the faith my fathers knew;
and you, ascetic hermit-saints
who lived where lonely wormwood grew;
and you, remorseless soldier-saints
who spread the Word with swords, and slew
wild unrepentant heathen hordes
in Jesus’ name: I pray for you.
I pray your unrelenting cause
is not unworthy, or untrue.
